"Make A Difference"
This was written for the Anoka Rotary Club for their annual "Let's Make a Difference Day." It was very well received by the Rotarians and community members.
"Hot Sauce"
This song has received over 250,000 plays over YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, according to Broadcast Music Inc., or BMI! BMI is a U.S. organization that distributes royalties to songwriters whose work has been played or performed.
"I Love the Northstar"
This is a German polka about the Metro Transit's Northstar commuter rail line. Band members were invited on the Northstar, and were inducted as honorary engineers!
The Story Behind the Band
Empowering Expression Through Every Note
Formed in 2012, Dance At Your Own Risk (DAYOR) is Achieve Services’ vibrant house band, made up of talented adults with disabilities who bring music, energy, and joy to every performance. DAYOR members not only perform creative covers of popular songs, they also write and sing their own original music, with over 150 original songs written to date.
Their songwriting spans a wide variety of emotions and themes including laugh-out-loud funny, deeply introspective, love songs, and songs reflecting about everyday challenges. Each song is a window into the unique perspectives and lived experiences of the band members, offering listeners a rare and powerful connection through music.
In addition to singing, band members use iPads as instruments. They play virtual keyboards, drums, guitars, and more, blending technology and talent to create a unique musical experience that celebrates both individuality and teamwork.
The band has earned recognition for its impact, including receiving a Life Enrichment Award. They've also been featured in the Star Tribune, performed live on KFAI radio, and were interviewed on KFAI's disability-focused show, further amplifying their message of inclusion and creativity.
