PERSONABILITY: Amy Marlin

Amy Marlin

Name just about any job that Achieve participants do and Amy Marlin has probably done it. Amy is always one of the first to jump at a new opportunity and she loves getting out in the community. She has been with Achieve since 2009 and she values the friendships and experiences that have developed. In addition to her hard work at Achieve, Amy is a gifted athlete and has played basketball in the Special Olympics several years in a row.

We had a chance to interview Amy about her experiences at Achieve and in the community:

What are some of the jobs you have done with Achieve?

AMY: I’ve worked at Holiday and Medtronic. I used to work at Metal Improvements. Now I work at Edina Realty. I also work in the workshop five days a week.

What is your favorite job that you have done?

AMY: Edina Realty. It’s fun because we get to go and deliver papers. We get to be outside and get good exercise.

Who are some of the people you like to work with?

AMY: I pretty much like to work with everybody. I work a lot with Mike and he’s awesome. He and I get along really well. He likes to joke around.

What are some things you like to do for fun?

AMY: I like to play basketball, do word finds, play my Nintendo Wii.

Where do you like to play basketball?

AMY: I have played for the Special Olympics. My team was the CLO Lakers and we wore blue and gold shirts. It was a lot of fun.

What else do you like to do when you’re away from work?

AMY: I like to visit my mom in Blaine and my aunt in Andover. I am also going to the State Fair.

What do you like about the State Fair?

AMY: I like to walk around and eat lots of food. I also like seeing the animals.

What is the best thing about working at Achieve?

AMY: Seeing everybody every day. It’s like a family all together. The staff helps us out whenever we have concerns and I get to do a lot of different jobs. It’s a really good place to work.
